- Eligibility
• Must have citizenship and a valid passport from one of the following English-speaking countries (Australia, Britain, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, United States)
- A supporting document to verify your education in English speaking country since grade 7 is required
• Bachelor’s degree or greater from an accredited university/college is a must. All majors and disciplines are accepted but two year college graduates are not allowed to obtain a working visa in Korea
• Clean criminal history

Your working hours would be approximately from 9am-6pm, with about 30 teaching hours each week. You will always follow a series of textbooks, determined by your supervisor or director. You will focus on simple English conversation, vocabulary, pronunciation and to a lesser extent grammar. You will also use materials such as flash cards, simple songs and body language to help the students learn. Teaching younger students requires more energy but it will be easy to see progress in your students as they quickly absorb your lessons.
There are two teaching positions. One is a home-room teacher who takes in charge of one class who will be required to teach them various subjects and activities in English. The other is an ESL teacher who will be in charge of teaching ESL in several classes.
- Elementary & middle school
The working hours would be from about 1pm-9pm/2pm-10pm. You will help students expand their vocabulary, reading/writing skills by showing them various ways to use the new words in sentences. You might be instructed to just follow a set of textbooks for each class or be asked to contribute in structuring lesson plans. Sometimes you may be asked to report on student’s development.
- Adult or university aged students
You might be require to work a split shift, usually from 7am- 11am (before work or school for the students) and again from 5PM-9PM. (You approximately teach a maximum of 30 classes a week. These jobs are not as common, simply because there aren't that many ESL schools, focusing on the older demographic. Many teachers enjoy these jobs, even with the split shift, since the classes are always conversation-based (where you do various exercises to help stimulate conversation amongst the students).
• Vacation
- Most schools offer about 10 days paid vacation. This is usually one week in summer and one week in winter.The teacher will not working during any Korean national holidays, normally between 9-14 days per year.
• Class Size
- Class sizes are usually between 7-12 students
- Contract Period & Regions
• The contract length is for one year (52 weeks).
• English teachers may renew their contract with mutual written agreement between the school and the teacher.
• Teaching and working hours differ by school but it usually 30-40 hours per week, averaging 110-150 hours per month, from Monday to Friday. Some schools have Saturday classes and others, particularly those with adult classes, have split shifts.
- Salary
Generally offer between 2.0 - 3.1 million won/per month depending on experience and qualifications.

2. Paid Vacation and Holidays

3. Overtime
- Overtime is approximately between 16,000-25,000 won per hour
4. Accommodation/Housing
- Housing is provided by the school for free. The teacher is responsible for utilities (gas, cable) and phone charges.
5. Flight Ticket/Airfare
- The school provides a one-way ticket for teachers from international airport to Korea or a return ticket home.
6. Severance Payment
- When teachers complete a year contract, they will receive severance that will be approximately be equivalent to your one month payment. This will be paid in the last month and is legally required from all schools under Korean law. If the teacher does not complete a year contract, the school is not responsible to pay the severance.
7. Health Insurance
- Korean employers provide their teachers with health care insurance and schools choose to go with either the National Health Insurance Plan or private Health Insurance. The cost of the medical insurance will be split 50-50 between the school and the teacher. This insurance is not take effect until your residency in Korea has been provided (when you receive your Alien Registration Card), which is usually around 2-4 weeks after arrival to Korea. 8. Pension Plan
- The teacher will receive a full pension refund (both their contribution and their employer’s contribution) when they leave Korea. This full refund only applies to teachers from Canada, the U.S. and Australia. Currently, teachers from other countries are unable to get this refund as their government has no reciprocal agreement with the Korean government. Interview withEmployer | We will search for schools that best match your preferences and setup an interview. Those staying abroad will be given an interview through skype and those staying in Korea will be arranged with a walk-in interview. |

Employment Contract | Employment contract will be signed with a school of your choice. You will be asked to send required visa documents through DHL, UPS or FedEx. If you are already in Korea with E2/D10 visa, we will help transfer your visa type. |

Acquire Visa Confirmation Number | When we receive the required documents from you, your school will submit your visa documents to the immigration office in Korea and if your visa documents are approved, your visa confirmation number will be issued in 10days and sent to you by e-mail. |

Apply for Visa at Korea Consulate | Apply for an E2 visa at the nearest Korean consulate either in person or by mail. Make sure you contact the local Korean consulate before you apply for an E2 visa and get confirmation regarding required visa items since every Korean consulate require different documents. In general, it takes about a week to process your visa. |

Flight ticketArrangement | Purchase a ticket yourself or through our travel agency. The cost will be reimbursed by the school. |

Arrive in Korea andStart working | We will escort you from the airport to school upon your arrival. |

Apply for ARC | You will have health check-up at the designated medical center upon arrival in Korea and apply for Alien Residence Card(ARC), your identity card. |

7. Apostilled Original Nation-wide Criminal Background check for Americans, British, Australians, New Zealanders, and South Africans or Notarized Original Nation-wide Criminal background check (RCMP or CPIC) with Korean consulate seal for Canadians
– Must get the apostille or the consulate seal on the original CBC and be less older than 6 months
*** Sealed official transcript is not needed by the immigration in Korea but would be needed by the Korean consulate where you are going to apply for your visa so it is going to be very important for you to contact them and make sure if you need to prepare it or not. (The information on their website could be old information so make a call and ask them in person and get the accurate information)
